Busyness

Just got the contract from Shell today. I need to submit it tomorrow. Until now I still cant believe that I will be going to UK. When I heard that my flight to Manchester is already booked, I was quite shocked and unable to accept the fact that I would be going! I smiled in disbelief. I will be flying on 17th September for Manchester via Amsterdam.

Apart from the fact that I have dreamt to go to UK since young, Lewis has been a source of driving force to me to aim to go to UK. Grabbed two images from Lewis:-

Yeah, we were in the newspaper on 3rd July, together. Our dreams. Finally we can go to UK together. It is a big big step forward.

I like reminiscing. I can still remember and vividly picture the things happened last year and this year. Let the pictures do the talking. In chronological order:

Thanks to Lewis for being with me all this while. We did all the applications together and thank God for letting us get the scholarship. There were so many things that we had been through, but we are always each other's support. Remember the Cambridge interview? haha. I was so glad that I got the offer from Cambridge but he was sad. Anyway, we are still going to Manchester.!! Yeah!

My New 'Home'

I 'bought' a new house in Manchester yesterday, it's a room, to be more precise. I bought it for 200 pounds. Cheap right? It is in the Fiddes, Dalton Ellis Hall, Victoria Park Campus. Living there, I don't have to cook, as it is catered. It is known to be the best hall in the university and provides the best catering. Also, it has a serene and tranquil environment. Last but not the least, value for money. Actually I don't know much. Haha.

I like the environment, and the greeneries. One sad thing is that I did not get the en suite. Instead I got the standard bedroom with wash basin. So I have to share the kitchen and bathroom, heard that it is with 5 people. Anyway, I can save some money. Almost 100 pounds per month. I hope I can adapt to it as soon as possible. Then I will not need to change to an en suite room.

Looking forward to it. Anticipation... occupying my mind.

so soon...

26 more days. Then I will be in somewhere else, Manchester, UK, somewhere I have always dreamt of going since I was young. I don't really feel the excitement, instead I feel quite sad. There are still a lot of things to be done before I go.
1. send my unconditional letter to Shell
2. wait for the contract and letter from Shell
3. make an appointment to do my visa
4. book my flights to Manchester
5. fly to KL for visa
6. my sister's wedding
7. pack

My sister's wedding is so soon. The saturday after next. I hope I can get myself a camera before that day so that I can take more shots on that memorable day. Some more, I won't be able to attend the actual wedding in Seremban in October.

Finally I have my passport done. In fact I don't have to renew it as the old one expires next year November. But I just want to save works so that I don't have to renew it next year. Hmmm. For passport and UK visa, I need two different pictures, blue background for passport and white one for visa. AND... for the picture for visa, I was not allowed to smile, needless to say about grin. Ya, maybe a VERY VERY SLIGHT smile. No wonder my cousin was complaining about it when she came to my house after taking the picture.

Sim ming choo, wei hong, wee tieng and I went out for dinner last night. It's somewhere near SESCO. I've heard of this place a long time ago before I actually went there. Food was not bad, and quite cheap. But the environment was, honestly, a bit disappointing. We actually planned to go to coffee bean after that. But we ended up watching movie. We watched RED CLIFF. I was so bored while watching it, kept yawning. Well, I was at first interested in watching it because it's history! I love history especially chinese history. Watching the movie made me felt as though I was knowledgeable. HEHE. The scenes were quite amazing. I said 'quite'. However I think it was a bit illogic and preposterous. The soldiers were supposed to fight, but they were just moving left and right, pretending to be fighting. Ya, that's how movie should be like. They normally don't really fight. That's why I hate watching this kinda movie. AND, I felt suspended when the movie ended. It wasn't a good or proper ending. Maybe there is a part two. Also, the language they used in the movie was not very 'ancient'. ahah. They used some words such as 过时.. and so on. I can't remember.

After the movie, I drove home, with wei hong's car. Sim ming choo said she wanted to see everyone's driving skill. Anyway, the distance was short from Bintang to my house, and not many cars. I heard from sim ming choo that they went to morsjaya for supper again after they dropped me off. I was already so sleepy. I fell asleep as soon as I popped into my bed.

I felt so disappointed by the University of Manchester, especially the accommodation. They gave me a standard room while I applied for an en suite. I tried to appeal but they just would not give it to me. I hope I will be able to transfer to an en suite in Oct during the transfer process. Or, I hope I like living in the standard room with shared bathroom. And, I can save more money. What I felt frustrated was I applied quite early, but just because I had not gotten my results and unconditional offer, they did not have any available en suite anymore. AND A GUY FROM SABAH GOT IT. A GUY!!!! Luckily Lewis and I got the same hall but different block, and I heard that Dalton Ellis hall is the best among all and provides the best catering.

Friday again... Time passes so fast.

This week...

Monday, I went for medical check up at Columbia Asia, did blood test, took X-ray and so on. First time having myself checked in a hospital. Nice experience. So my appointment with doctor is on 25th.

Wednesday night I received a call from Wei Hong, asking me to go out for a gathering with my secondary school classmates. Anyway, I was having my dinner when he called, having my favourite STINGRAY! So I went to meet them after my dinner at home. There at Double Star, I met wei hong, wee tieng, amelia, sen weng and jing yii (amelia's friend). The feeling was back! It was already two years after I left RRSS. Wei Hong was back from UK. The first in our class to go UK - not fair! Just kidding. So, we'll be going to UK around the same time. He's going to Sheffield, which was one of my choices that time.

Boulevard Hypermarket was our next stop. Wei Hong was the driver. Hmmm, not bad. He still remembered the roads and places in Miri. Just that he never slowed down when turning. Scary! Anyway, both wee tieng and I were safe. Wee Tieng is still a nice friend, wei hong too. We can still share! So at least now, from wee tieng, I know where my ex schoolmates are.

Then we went to coffee bean. Haha! First time I used my ATM card for 10% discount. I felt like... I'd grown up. HAHA! Sat there till 10pm then Wei Hong sent me home.

Thursday night, I chatted till 12pm. It's been so long since I last went online til so late. Is it late? Yes, for me. Michelle told me a few riddles and jokes.
1. What will happen if an aeroplane flies into a cave? (it will come out from newspaper. 出报纸...)
2. Apa air paling berani? (air terjun. berani terjun lah)

Well, this are the cold things I heard from my friend.
1. What does sushi A say to sushi B? (What's up B? -wasabi) cold right?
2. What is the gender of a mouse? (female, because it needs pad-mouse pad)
3. Which emperor is blind? 雍正,乾隆,康熙?(康熙, because --can't see)
a lot more...

Friday, go to church at night for song leading practice. I thought 3rd aug was the last time, but I have to replace a church member.

Saturday, Lewis is going to KL...

Now, I am starting to miss all my friends, from primary school to A level. Those from primary school particularly. Where are you guys? Scattered on many parts of this world. Ys, I will be leaving too.. one more month.............

My Dell Vostro 1510

24th July was a day I eagerly waited for. My laptop was said to be arriving on that day. Anyway, the delivery date was already a great disappointment for me. I went to KL for 11 days hoping to receive it there as the free delivery covered only west malaysia. I was anticipating to receive it as the 'estimated delivery date' was said to be around 12 days. When I was in KL, I knew that Amy who bought the laptop just a day before me would get hers on 14th July, and she really got it. I was so disappointed with the Customer service. They said the delay in delivery was caused by the shortage of a part. But they didn't inform me! So I told them about it and complained. I sent them emails almost everyday. Luckily there was a very nice customer care specialist who solved all the problems for me. Then they allowed to send it to my house for free. They better do. They just should not make me wait again. I was desperate.

That's how my laptop looks. Just my type of laptop. The look is very satisfactory.

What I like about this laptop:
1. I bought it at a very worthy price. RM4XXX. The price is good for its specs: 2.5GHz core 2 duo processor, 3GB ram (free upgrade), built in camera and microphone, biometry sensor, 15.4" widescreen (1440X900), genuine Vista business, free belkin bag
2. I love the glossy outer case, it just looks so elegant and cool. I will not mind wiping it everyday to keep it gloss~
3. It's not very big.
4. WIFI detection is good.
5. Long battery life.
6. the touch-media-buttons. They are cool and with blue lights.
7. Good side vents. My laptop does not turn hot at all.
8. Slot loading optical drive. Just so cool.
9. It is incredibly quiet when it is running.
10. four USB ports
11. So far no problem has been found except the followings.

Media Buttons

Slot load optical drive

side vents

What I don't like:
1. something I changed for twice- the keyboard. It is quite noisy. The first one has a squeaky spacebar. Second one has a loud backspace. Third one? slightly better than the previous two, but still, at least it's bearable. Just don't feel like bothering about it anymore. The reviews online mentioned about the keyboard for being flimsy. I think it is not flimsy but noisy.
2. the speakers. They are on both sides of the keyboard. The problem is when I was watching movie and the actor shouted, it sounds like the diaphragm was about to burst. Anyway, bearable.

It will be my companion in my room when i go overseas. I hope it will 'behave' properly all the time wherever I go. Love it~

Time passes fast

It's August. Time seems to be flying away from us day by day, and we will not have it back again. Counting down to mid September, there are only six more weeks left. Asking myself how I feel, I feel sad more than happy. There are still uncertainties to my plan of studying abroad, the main one is my A-level result. It will be out on 10th August. Ah... Just like waiting for the scholarship, my heart will beat fast everytime i think about it. God, let it be excellent please. I know you will give me the best.

Had breakfast in Boulevard Restaurant today. I love the egg tart. Lewis will have to buy it for me every weekend from now on. So yummy~ My recent interest is cooking. i want to learn to cook and cook for Lewis when I go to UK. I hope that he can learn cooking too so sometimes he can cook for me. Then he will be really sweet and caring. And seriously, I hope that he can learn to make egg tarts. He can learn it from his uncle. Haha. Woohoo.. egg tart every week... wherever i go, as long as Lewis is with me.

Tomorrow will be my last time having song leading in my church. Heavy feelings. So, i am going to do the best tomorrow. All the praise to God alone.

I know what I have to get. Pyjamas, camera, luggage, moisturiser.. and do my passport. i will be going to KL in september for my visa, and i can buy many things.

UK... I am coming...
